Anti Aging Skin Care Guide

Anti-aging skin care is about being proactive and retarding the aging process. The process of aging is a natural one.  With the proper prevention methods and relevant natural skin care techniques, the skin’s process of aging can be significantly reduced.

Eating habits

Maintain healthy eating habits: A well-balanced diet is key to maintaining proper body metabolism. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables (raw), they are the best source of fiber and combat the breakdown of collagen and elastin in our skin. A diet consisting of lots of fresh fruits and veggies is invaluable.

The body thrives on all things raw and vital. Grains and nuts are also full of necessary protein, and sprouts such as wheatgrass are the ultimate mineral supplement when juiced. Avoid oily and fatty food; not only do they lack in essential nutrients but also cause obesity and other diseases that aid the aging process

Reduce Stress

One important factor about anti-aging is the minimization of stress. It disturbs the body’s metabolism and accelerates the aging process. There are countless negative side effects of too much stress in our lives, so anything that you can do to alleviate stress is beneficial. Go for quiet walks, surround yourself with positive people, meditate, Sleep, exercise, take a relaxing bath and make sure that you have some time to yourself occasionally. Aroma-therapy is also known to bust stress. All are good ways of beating stress.

Dehydration

Yet another factor in premature aging. Many people simply do not drink enough water to maintain a healthy system. Six to eight glasses of water a day is said to be what we should be drinking and that does not include soft drinks and coffee! They tax the system of moisture. Water helps in flushing out the toxins from the body, hence keeping it clean and making it less prone to disease. Always carry a bottle of water with you and drink it!

Exercise

Regular exercise is a wonderful antiaging skin care procedure. Besides toning your muscles, it also helps in cleaning the skin by flushing out the toxins in the form of sweat. Regular aerobic exercise is a “must-do” for anyone committed to slowing the aging process. Hundreds of studies show that exercise combats the loss of stamina, muscle strength, balance, and bone density that increases with age.

The American Heart Association advises doing a single set of eight to 15 repetitions, using eight to 10 exercises, two to three times a week for a comprehensive strength-building program. If you are not a beginner, that’s about a 10-minute routine.

Skin products

Try to avoid the use of strong, chemical-based products on your skin. Natural skincare products are a good option. The use of organic skincare products (homemade or commercial) can be a very effective antiaging skincare measure. Do not overuse skincare products.

Using natural skincare products will significantly reduce the number of chemical substances you absorb into your body that can cause premature aging. Some ‘everyday chemicals such as synthetic emollients contained in some commercial products can be stored by the body in the liver and lymph nodes. Others such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphates can irritate the skin.

Ways to prevent absorbing chemicals through the skin are:

  • Use only natural skincare products
  • Scent the skin with essential oils or naturally scented creams
  • Use only soaps made from plant oils and that contain herbal extracts, Aromatherapy oil blends, and clays.

Vitamin C based skincare products are a very popular means of antiaging skincare. However, these seem to oxidize very quickly (which makes them harmful to the skin). So store them properly. If the product turns Yellowish brown, it means that vitamin c has oxidized and the product is no longer suitable for use.

Get your beauty sleep

Take time to get some sleep – at least 7 to 8 hours per night. While we sleep, our bodies recharge and prepare for a new day. Our skin recharges too. So, no matter how busy your day is, keep an eye on that clock, and before it gets late, take a few moments to relax and unwind. This will help you get the restful sleep you, and your skin, need.

Exfoliation

This is a natural way to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the body and prevent premature aging, revealing the fresh new skin cells beneath. There are many benefits to exfoliating the skin. Not only is new skin revealed but the circulation is stimulated enabling toxins to be dislodged and removed from the layers of the skin and the lymph nodes.

Ways to exfoliate are:

  • Use a body scrub weekly in the shower
  • Before showering, use a natural bristle skin brush to brush the dry skin
  • Make use of loofahs to remove dead cells when bathing
  • Dry the skin with a scratchy towel to stimulate your circulation

Sun protection

Protect your skin against UV radiation.  UV rays are known to speed up the aging process. So, a good sunscreen lotion should be a part of your antiaging skin care routine. If you can’t stay out of the sun, sunscreen and sunblock are the best way to protect your skin.

Especially sunscreen that protects from both UVA and UVB rays. Both of these rays are harmful and lead to sun damage and skin cancer. Use mineral options instead of chemical-based protection. Mineral-based protection typically includes ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which create a physical barrier to protect the skin from the sun.

Collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the skin, making up an impressive 75-80% of the organ. We break down more collagen than we make as we get older.  Collagen consumption can increase skin elasticity and help your body’s skin repair process, thus encouraging your body to form new collagen.

Collagen drinks and powders have been shown to have antioxidant properties, and antioxidants protect skin by limiting the production of free radicals, which can damage skin cells. As a result, these powdery drinks could help repair damaged skin, since antioxidants promise environmental protection and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as the texture of the skin

FAce yoga

We live more and more consciously and find it very normal to exercise and train our body, why not our face too? Face yoga really just means “training” your face. By doing facial exercises daily you can make your skin smoother and thus also prevent wrinkles! … By training your facial muscles you also ensure that the blood flow is activated and you get a beautiful and healthy complexion.
