Five Keys To Excellent Health

Your healthy functioning body is the most valuable material asset you possess. It’s the first thing of value given to you when you enter this world and you owe it to yourself to value it and increase its functioning value.

The five keys to progressively creating a healthy body and life:

Key #1 – Rest and sleep

Rest = Restoration. Rest and sleep provide an opportunity for the body to cleanse, repair, and rejuvenate on a deep cellular level. Nourishing your body with plenty of healing sleep and rest is essential for becoming whole. Getting quality sleep is beneficial for your overall health. Mental and physical performance is greatly affected by the quality of sleep. Getting enough sleep plays a role in preventing common illnesses like colds and flu.

Sleep deprivation has an adverse effect on immune function. Not only that it helps reduce stress, but it also reduces inflammation and makes you more alert. Not getting enough sleep can make you drowsy and can lead to hazardous situations. Professionals suggest that one should sleep between six to eight hours a day. It is important to try and go to sleep at the same time, so your body would learn to function in a certain regime.

Key #2 – Think Right

Mental and emotional health contributes to general health too. Having a social life is good for your mental health. People with many social contacts don’t have much time to feel alone or hopeless. Join a club, volunteer, or go out with friends. These are activities that promote fun and interaction which are good for your emotional health.

Through friends, you can get and share important information, get emotional support, and have a sense of belonging which helps in overcoming depression and anxiety attacks. Being part of a community keeps the mind active. Someone who is always looking for new things to learn will stay more involved in life. People with a sense of fulfillment and purpose are generally healthier and happier. Your life is a product of the thoughts you think, which leads to the actions you do, which then creates the results you see.

Key #3 – Eating & drinking

Consuming the right foods is, as we all know very important. Many people find this hard to do because they have long formed improper eating habits that can be very hard to change without assistance. How would you rate your eating habits?

Understand that your body is a living organism that uses the food you consume to recreate itself. Before a cell dies it reproduces another cell from the food you are currently consuming. So consider this: If you had the choice would you create your body from the nutrients in the food you are consuming right now?

Key #4 – Exercise

As a whole, we do not get enough exercise because of higher technology and improvements in all aspects of work. For better health, it is recommended to have 30 minutes of exercise a day. If you don’t like to exercise alone, get a friend to walk or go to the gym with you.

Keeping in tip-top shape through physical activities not only helps you lose weight, but it also keeps the bone healthy and strong, reduces the risk of developing high blood pressure and diabetes, promotes psychological well-being. It gives you more energy boost and better stress management.

Key #5 – Take up a hobby

Pursuing other interests outside your regular occupation is a great form of relaxation. Hobbies build confidence because being good at something and learning something new is very rewarding. Most hobbies also require creativity and reduce negative stress. Find hobbies that are enjoyable and interesting. The joy that hobbies bring to people can also help you lead a healthier life.
